Pick you up at Senggigi or Teluk Kodek and or Airport then transfer to Tetebatu and check in at the accommodation. After dinner you will get briefing from your guide explains the route details, local traditions and what you might see, the rubbish management, safety procedures and tree plantation with local species, then also introduce you to your porters. If you reach Tetebatu by 14:00 or 15:00 pm then you have time to walk around the village with your guide to see the life style of the community and farming system.
Early in the morning, register at the Rinjani Information Centre in Timbanuh Village (810 m), meet your guide and arrange National Park entry tickets. Timbanuh Trek Centre staff will provide briefing that describes the route details, local cultural traditions, what you might see, explains rubbish management and safety procedures.
After a few minutes walk enter the national park at an altitude of 837 m and after 20 minutes reach Pos 1 Rest Camp Area Raden Jekat. The trek climbs steadily through thick tropical forests, rich in flora, bird life and song and a variety of butterflies. You will also hear the long-tailed macaque monkeys (kera) and the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as lutung, and if lucky you will see them. Porters will prepare tree plantation, then you will make stop and every trekker will plant two trees. Then our team will take care of the trees.
After 3km we reach Pos 2 Rest Camp Area Pancor Tayib (1,725 m) and enjoy the nature and the fresher and cooler air of the higher altitude. Here you take an hours rest for lunch before continue the walk, After about fifteen minutes walk through shady trees you will reach the area well known as good bird habitat, explore and observe and listen to the birds along the trek. If you have them bring your binoculars.
After about two and half hours of trekking you reach the overnight camp site at Pos 3 (2,224m). At this point we can see a nice view of the south coast of Lombok and at this area it is traditional for the local people to refer to some things in special local words. For example: dog and in Bahasa Indonesia is anjing and locally is basong and on the mountain is lelembut. Fire in Bahasa Indonesia is api and on the mountain is nyerleng, etc.
After pre-dawn 1 hour climb and if lucky you may see deer during our walk to the crater rim (2,834 m). Here, the overview of the Crater-lake and Gunung Baru is memorable start to second day. Gunung Baru (2,351m) is an active volcano, last erupting dramatically in 1994. After enjoying the view, descend down the trail, first through grassland with lots of edelweiss the pass through the pine-like forest of Casuarina species locally called Cemara. Back in the shade of the tropical forest it is about six hours from the rim to the trek’s ends at Timbanuh.
